Each employer is going to have different expectations, but here are a few things you can do to be a good intern no matter where you go.

  • Be willing to do any office task asked of you—no job is beneath you

  • Utilize your tech and communication skills to help full-time employees navigate technology

  • Proactively offer help—don't wait to be told when help is needed; if you see work that needs to be done, just do it

  • Go into each day wanting to learn about the office

  • Be positive and optimistic

  • Accept constructive feedback and implement it

  • Ask questions if you don't know how to do something—it's better to ask and do it right the first time than have to redo it

  • Collaborate with fellow interns—you learn a lot more from working with other people

  • Be on time; don't be late to work

  • Listen when given advice or instructions

  • Stay on task and don't miss deadlines
